GETTING READY FOR THE BIG REVEAL

At last, I signed the approval papers for the Cover and Interior for TYRONE THE TERRIBLE, The Chameleon Who Decided He Was an Alligator. And the manuscript is now off to the printers. In a short time (I hope) my book will be ready for the world to see. And I can actually hold it in my hands. Proud parent.

It has been a fun and exciting project. Special thanks to the people at Elk Lake Publishing, Inc. Editor Derinda and publisher Deb couldn’t have been more helpful to an absolute new-comer like me.

As a matter of fact, I plan to go through this whole process again in the fall. I have been informed that my Picture Book, I HATE OATMEAL, has been accepted for publication by Elk Lake in November.

This could become a habit. Anyway, TYRONE will be out in paperback and ebook on Amazon. I’ll let you know when. Then you have to do your part and buy one and leave a wonderful review.

One last thing. I have a short story OPERATION S.O.S. (SAVE OUR STABLE) I want to share with you. It is free when you click the link below. My summer project is to lengthen it into a full story, complete with color illustrations. But more about this project later. Just enjoy the story and look forward to the expanded book.

ALMOST READY FOR THE BOOK LAUNCH

After working through several edits, TYRONE THE TERRIBLE, The Chameleon Who Decided He Was an Alligator, is off to the publisher for final approval. My cover illustration is done, and waiting approval. Once this is done, the book will be out shortly.

It has been an exciting process. I have learned many new things along the way. I’ve given my first interview, done a Zoom meeting, where I had to get out of my PJ’s, and learned to navigate my way around Dropbox (kind-of).

Don’t tell my editor, but there were times when she would ask for something, and I would have to google the word to find out what I was supposed to do. But I managed to get done what was needed, and added some new words to my vocabulary.

The release date is set for next month. I’ll give you a heads-up when the book is ready. Thanks for being with me along this publishing journey.

JAN LIS UPDATE

I had a wonderful weekend in Miami at the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators Conference. Learned so much, and made so many good contacts. There were panel discussions – a First Books panel, Publishers panel, and Agents panel. And some great workshops. The whole weekend was about children’s books, from Picture Books to Young Adult.

My Chapter Book, TYRONE THE TERRIBLE, The Chameleon Who Decided He Was an Alligator, is in the first edit stage. Which makes me wonder how many edits there are. Of course I will find out. What a shock when you think you are fairly literate and the first mark-up comes back to you with all kinds of re-dos. It is an interesting process, and I am actually enjoying the learning experience.
